Excellent food in a fish shop

Excellent food in a fish shop
Based in the back of a fishmongers, this restraurant is a hidden gem! The Easy Fish Co. has been providing fresh fish and seafood for over 10 years. They’re an independent business with over 120 years’ experience in the fish trade making a perfect location for our staff outing.

As a family business that originally started in Heaton Moor, our trip to easy fish was certainly a blast from the past. The founder of Victoria Highfield Angela grew up just a few doors down from our venue making great conversation throughout the evening, reminiscing and recalling the previous business in that location;  K&H supermarkets.  This restaurant has evolved into a successful seafood restaurant.

The food was amazing, fresh and well-presented.  We particularly enjoyed the seafood sharing platter which was well worth having as the flavour, balance of textures and presentation were exceptional. The atmosphere lovely and relaxed with attentive but not overbearing service making our recommendation easy! Only open Wednesday to Saturday 12.00 to 23.00pm this place is deservedly very busy and so we recommend booking in advance!

Bonhams: £60m of jewellery 'gathering dust'
There is an estimated £60m worth of vintage jewellery gathering dust in drawers and attics across Britain, according to Bonhams.
The auction house said that millions of pound's worth of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and other pieces of jewellery are simply set aside and forgotten as a result of changing tastes.
The announcement was made after a dusty ruby brooch, which was bought in a charity shop for £1.50, sold for £2,400 after 'scratches' on its back were identified as a Cartier signature by Bonham's auctioneers.
Other finds range from a £20,000 diamond ring buired in a back garden, an art deco brooch bequeathed to a young girl by her grandmother and considered 'costume' jewellery until it sold for £12,500 and a ring inherited from a grandmother which was revealed as an "ultra-rare" Burmese unheated ruby, selling for £134,500. Jean Ghika, head of jewellery in the UK and Europe at Bohams, said: "We estimate there is at least £60m worth of unwanted jewellery that owners have forgotten or never worn just waiting for a new home.
"Many clients tell us they had forgotten about a piece of jewellery that might have been handed down to them when an elderly relative passed away or that it was just sitting in a safe deposit box and not being worn and enjoyed. A lot of people have no idea just how valuable these pieces could be.
Through out August we will run a series of jewellery valuation days, and invite people to have their jewellery valued.

In celebration of winning the bridal retailer of the year award 2015. We held a VIP event in the heart of Didsbury, the event concentrated on welcoming the local community and delighting in our recent win. The event brought many different people to our store, including food, fashion and life style bloggers.

The food bloggers particularly seemed to enjoy the champagne and cupcakes by ZaraCakes decorated with our very own Victoria Highfield logo, along with the delicious canapé's from Gusto's.

We challenged all of our guests to take a 'selfie' with one of our beautiful diamond rings. Each ring from our diamond range was unique and designed by our in house designers, this was a task no one was reluctant to participate in.  :)

However the highlight of the evening had to be the arrival of Miss Galaxy England herself. Both captivating and engaging this particular VIP was a pleasure to host. She happily spoke to every guest at the event, posing for pictures and discussing our bespoke jewellery range.

Watches have become a very important symbol of status and welfare. Many people are in the business of selling replicas, however, and if you're a quality watch lover it's important to be able to tell real from fake. When buying a watch from an unfamiliar store or person, pay attention to the steps listed below, as well as tips and warnings.
1
Familiarize yourself with the various collections of the watch brand you wish to purchase. Every nice watch has at least one signature element to it that can't be replicated; if you can identify that element, you'll always be able to tell when you're buying a knockoff watch.

2
As you're browsing, thoroughly inspect the watch you wish to buy. Pay attention to the inscriptions and engravings on the face and back of the watch. The original watch will never have a smeared inscription or an unclear engraving. Typos and letter substitutions in brand names and inscriptions (such as the ones in the above image) are also warning signs.

3
Pay attention to the functions of the watch and its chronograph. Most Rolex watches have a sweep second hand, while many fakes will have a tick style hand; however, some real Rolex watches have a tick style hand, so know your model. A replica watch that has a magnifying glass (called a cyclops) may also have a weak level of magnification in comparison to the genuine timepiece.

4
Note the precise movement of the watch. If you intend to buy a mechanical timepiece, you should try to take a look under the case back. Fake watches sometimes do have a mechanical movement, but it is typically of lower quality than the movement of a genuine watch.

How to clean Gold Jewellery with boiling water

How to clean Gold Jewellery with boiling water;

Step 1; Know when boiling is appropriate.

Gold itself can be boiled with no problems. However, boiling delicate gemstones (like opals, pearls, coral, and moonstones) can cause them to crack or become damaged - especially if the jewellery is cold before boiling. Boiling is also a bad idea for jewellery with glued-in gemstones, as it can loosen the glue. However, if you're looking to clean heavily-soiled jewellery made entirely out of gold or gold jewellery that contains "strong" gemstones (like diamonds), boiling is a great choice.

Step 2; Bring water to boil.

You don't need to boil much water - just enough to submerge all of the jewellery in. As you're waiting for the water to boil, set your gold jewellery in a sturdy bowl or another vessel that won't be damaged by boiling water. Pyrex or metal cooking bowls/dishes are good choices.
  • Arrange jewellery in the dish or bowl so that no piece of jewellery is covering up another piece - water should be able to reach every piece of jewellery.
Step 3; Carefully pour the water over your jewelry.

Be very careful not to spill or splash by pouring too rapidly - boiling water can cause serious burns. When all of the jewellery is completely submerged, you've added enough water.

Step 4; Wait for the water to cool.
When you can comfortably put your hands in the water, you can remove the jewellery. Follow a good boiling by scrubbing each piece of jewellery with a soft brush, then dabbing it dry with a soft towel and allowing it to sit and air-dry completely.
  • Don't be afraid if the water appears dirty - this is good! As boiling water loosens the dirt, wax, grime, etc. that's built up on your jewellery, it may float to the surface of the water. The dirtier your water looks, the more dirt you've removed from your jewellery!
